Dr. Tyree’s newest spiritual offering, a study on the Biblical book of James, is currently racing off the virtual shelves at the low low cost of…FREE. From now until Friday, October 9th (2015) you can download your own free e-copy of this new, in depth look at the Letter of James, the brother of Jesus, to the Jewish Christians he cared for.

This book is described as a discussion of James’ words and his call to both the ancient and modern Christian.

As Dr. Tyree says: Jacob Bar Joseph, known to the modern reader as James, the Lord’s brother, was an amazing leader and catalyst in the earliest days of the christian church at Jerusalem. Standing beside men like Peter and James and John Zebedee, he became one of the most influential figures in the growing movement. His letter to Jewish Christians -scattered by persecution and separated by countless miles – shows a man of dedication and strength. His words ring true across the ages and cultural divides and call the modern believer to faithfulness and action.

What are you waiting for? Go download your free copy today…I know he’s looking forward to your comments, questions, and debates!

Author Interview: Dr. Wilson Jay Tyree

Dr. Tyree

Hello everyone and welcome to the third installment of the Interviews segment for Here There Be Dragons.

Today I am honored to welcome minister, professor, author, and my dad, Dr. Wilson Jay Tyree. Thanks for taking the time out of your hectic schedule to answer a few questions for us sir.

Let’s get started:

  • What name do you write under?

I often write under the name Bible Chair.  The name is above the door and I write under it.  The name I use to identify my work is Dr. Wilson J Tyree

  • Is this a pseudonym?

Nope, that’s the name they gave me at birth, including the title.  They knew I was special.

  • Do you use more than one name when you write? No
  • Tell us about the first time you realized that you were an author or were going to be an author.

In reality, my writing grew out of a need to organize and recycle my teaching.  Sermons, Bible classes, etc. Seem to beg to be put into written form, organized and shared with audiences I might never meet.

To be fair, he recycles the material far more often than this lets on. Ask him about The Woman at the Well sometime when I’m not around.

  • What genre(s) do you write in, and why?

Religion and spirituality are my main fields of endeavor, as they are my areas of expertise 😊

He also has a children’s book out, writes poetry (some of which is available in Ministerial Musings) and works well as a backboard to bounce ideas off of.

  • What genres are your favorites to read? Why?

I rarely read full volumes, but occasionally read articles concerning biblical studies.  My eyesight is poor and my attention span minute.

  • Tell us about your two all-time favorite characters: 1 that you wrote and 1 that someone else wrote.

I am intrigued by St Augie, a character from one of my own short stories (Found in the volume Ministerial Musings).  As for characters created by others, I’m partial to Nancy Drew.

Notice it isn’t one of my characters? Not sure that he’s read any of my books in their entirety…not even the short story ones!

  • There is a lot of controversy about allowing books to be made into movies (especially when they cut or change large portions of the plot). Would you be willing for your books/stories to become a movie? Why or why not?

Can’t imagine a scenario where that would make any sense at all.  For the record, though, I would rather see a book brought to life in 2 hours or less than to invest the weeks of squinting and concentration needed to wade through the printed page☺

His children’s book, Monsoon McKreel and the Rose could be made into an animated picture with ease.

  • How do you handle writer’s block?

I write as a sideline, so I can often move to another project and come back later.  For items with a deadline, (I write a weekly religious column for the local paper) I tend to retreat to commentary on current events in my own life.

  • What inspires you?

Faith, Hope, and love.  But the greatest of these is love (Paul).  I enjoy that moment when someone “gets it” because I’ve been able to organize the material in a way that makes sense to them.  Keeps me coming back.

  • How do you respond when people ask what you do, then make that face if you say “I’m an author”?

I’m minister.  I’m pretty used to that face.  The one that gets me is the fake face when they say they would love to read my stuff.  😃

See, he lives in the same town I live in. All of you that are telling me you’ve never had that ‘face’ show up…come visit.

  • Finally, tell us where to go to find you

My blog is a bust.  I rarely remember to post.  Best spot is Kindle.  My goal is to give away about 1000 books per year, so check the kindle free list on just about any given Monday or Tuesday.  If you’d like to help me in this quest, like us on Tyree Tomes and share the freebie announcements.  I appreciate your time.

He regularly has free e-book give aways, which we always post on the Facebook page. You can also find updates for his work here on Here There Be Dragons, since the Tyree Tomes blog hasn’t had a post updated in months (MONTHS…*sigh* I remind him…)

Tyree Tomes Friday

I want to take this opportunity to remind you that our Spiritual book department (headed by Dr. Wilson Jay Tyree) is giving away e-reader copies regularly. In fact, the true purpose of his books being on Kindle is to give them away and so far Dr. Tyree has managed to pass out 850 digital copies of these books for this fiscal year. Our goal is 2,000 copies this year, so here’s where you come in! You can visit Dr. Tyree’s available book selection at amazon.com/author/wilsontyree and keep up with his free give aways by ‘liking’ our Tyree Tomes page on Facebook. One more thing, if you are a reader in Italy please download something of his! He keeps moaning and groaning that he hasn’t broken in to the market their yet. Thank you!

I should also mention here that I am still out there, plugging away at novel #4 and waiting on some new reviews to come in for the other 3 in that series. If you haven’t gotten the books or need to remind yourself of them, my author page is found at amazon.com/author/elizabethtyree and will link you to my four available books. I am, as I said, still awaiting the reviews or blog comments to hear what my new readers think of characters and plotlines, so I can’t tell you much about my popularity right now (hint hint *wink*). As with my father, information on my own giveaways and contests can also be found via Tyree Tomes.

Thank you for all of your support and the time it takes you to read our work. I hope that we continue to earn your readership and loyalty, and that many blessings follow you today.

A little Pep in my Goals

Good Monday Morning Friends!! I know that a few of you have already made up your goals for this week and are even now working semi-feverishly to accomplish them. I’m a little slower than that 😉

Whether or not you have set goals, there is something that you want to take care of today, tomorrow, and the rest of the week. Here’s a hint…DO IT! I’ve been looking at this yarn for two days thinking about crocheting an alligator (the final in mother’s students’ special orders for the year). I have until tomorrow to get it done now because I did not fulfill that goal from last week L BUT! I can do it.

That’s the great thing about goals, even if they are unreachable there is some part of it that you CAN finish. For instance, many of my friends and I have the great goal to be published or, since I’m already self-published, to be hugely popular and sell a million copies. To do that, I have to write and edit and re-write and re-edit, etc. It may be a long road, but if you love what you do then the time flies by.

So, in the interest of accountability and, hopefully, inspiration…

Here are my GOALS for the week of May 19th – May 25th:

  1. Sell at least one book (I haven’t sold any in a month…Perhaps I need to do something differently with book covers or advertising?? Wait, I don’t advertise…)
  2. Work feverishly on illustrations for the Short Story Sunday Volume 1  book so it can be published ASAP (hopefully in the next week to aid with goal 1)
  3. Have a GREAT giveaway – Ok, so I can’t do much about that one other than posting links like this one –Book 3 of the Stone Dragon Saga: Dragon On The Green free through Kindle for e-reader download until midnight May 21, 2014
  4. Blog Away – Every Day!
  5. Write at least three new chapters for Dragons in the Deep.
  6. Write a short story for S.S.S.
  7. Do some of that pesky housework
  8. Send in the paperwork to get back the other paperwork to take to get copies of the third papers to drive over to the new job so they have it all on file *phew*
  9. Stop giving myself so many big goals, I’m tired just looking at this list and I didn’t even include anything about playing with my little girl (20 months old…lots of energy.)

Oh! I almost forgot…My Dad, Dr. Wilson Jay Tyree, set a goal for the week too:

  1. Give away copies of the new children’s book, Monsoon McKreel and the Rose to people across the globe…or at least just a lot of people. Monsoon McKreel is free for download until Friday May 23rd.

I hope that seeing my goals helps you make your own, makes you feel better, or at least gives you a nice healthy chortle this fine morning. Do have any goals you would like to share? I would love to see them! Not only is sharing caring (remember that when you talk to your friends…Sharing things like books written by nice ladies you read on the internet means that you CARE about your loved ones!)…sharing helps us stay on point so we don’t have to explain our failures to everyone!

Tyree Tomes Friday

WooHoo! Dr. Wilson Jay Tyree’s book o’ the week, Ministerial Musings, has surpassed the 200+ mark in this week’s giveaway! If you have not downloaded your free copy yet, please hurry. The giveaway ends at midnight tonight. Never fear though my friends, his new children’s book, Monsoon McKreel and the Rose, will be available for free download beginning Monday, May 19th!

Also beginning on Monday, May 19th, will be a three day give away for the third book in my Stone Dragon Saga, Dragon on the Green.

We are both constantly working on new articles, short stories, and books so don’t forget to follow us on Facebook at Tyree Tomes for updates, debates, and big news from the Tyree family authors. We’re ten ‘likes’ away from someone winning a free hardback, personalized copy of one of our books. Hurry over so you can be in the running. And please don’t forget to tell us what you think about our books. Good or bad, all comments are appreciated….otherwise we can’t fix whatever isn’t working for you!

Have a Blessed Weekend!

What Are You Reading Wednesday May 14th

This week I am working on reading the next Cassandra Clare book (I’m a little behind so I’m on City of Fallen Angels) in between crocheting toys for end of school year prizes and working on the new short story book’s illustrations.

I will also be reading Ministerial Musings (free  e-book download through Saturday!!) and waiting on Monsoon McKreel (which will be free Monday thru Friday of next week), both written by Dr. Wilson Jay Tyree (his blog can be found here).

What are you reading this week? Are there any books that you’re looking forward to delving in to soon? (Are they by any chance the Stone Dragon Saga by one Elizabeth S. Tyree?? I hear they’re pretty gripping 😀 ) Let me know, I love to hear from you!

Free Friday!

Tonight is your last chance to get a free copy of Dr. Wilson Jay Tyree’s newest work, Essays on Christian Worship. According to his description, this book is comprised of “Five short essays, each covering a different area of christian worship: prayer, singing, giving, communion, and preaching.”

Today is also the first day of the three day give away for Elizabeth S. Tyree’s Dragon in My Yard, the second novel in the Stone Dragon Saga. You can find the first and third adventures available on Amazon and Kindle. Book 4 coming soon…

May you find a book to read that will light your way, a page to turn that makes you breath a sigh of contentment, and a world that brings you everything you could ever want or need…even if not in my work. Enjoy and have a Blessed day!!

Free E-book

Free E-book

An interesting read anytime but free through April 13th, 2014 (Just in time for Easter) this book by Dr. Wilson Jay Tyree delves into:

Early on Pentecost morning, the number of believers in that small band of outcasts barely broke the century mark. Luke, the author of the New Testament book of Acts, places the count at 120, mostly from the region around the Sea of Galilee. By the end of the day, their company would expand to include
Jewish pilgrims from over a dozen regions of the Empire and their numbers would exceed 3000. In this volume, we ask the question, “Why?”

What Are You Reading Today?

Are you currently delving into a new world of mystery and intrigue? Have you found a series you can’t force yourself to put down? Do you have tests on Friday and are devouring text books like candy?  I would love to hear some comments and suggestions!

Perhaps, like me, you haven’t even managed to finish your January book yet. Or you just haven’t picked up a new one as of late. May I suggest heading over to Amazon to cruise the self-published pages and give a little hit to a struggling author or two? (You can always search Dr. Wilson Jay Tyree and/or Elizabeth S. Tyree if you like specifics..we can always use the confidence boost!)

I am currently struggling with finding new material, both in reading and in writing, so if you have any ideas for me I would love to hear them!
